Another movie I saw a month ago at the Great States Convention.

Very disapointing. It wallows in melodrama and soap opera plot twists that you would expect from an "Oprah Book Club" selection (which it was). Pfeiffer chews the scenery playing a manipulative Hannibal Lecterish mother in prison.

The direction is also very heavy handed and obnoxious, not trusting the source material to convey the thematic elements. (This bothered me the most in Pfeiffer's final scene with the key light on her face, her hair golden and shimmering, and wearing an oversaturated loose fitting white gown.) Ugh...
