Woody Allen is back in New York, but his comedy is getting more lightweight by the minute. Jason Biggs is involved with Christina Ricci, playing her usual vixen self (will she ever be able to break the mold?) Woody Allen is a supporting character this time out, but we've seen this (albeit at one time very funny) shtick before. It's just getting tired. The cocaine scene might have been funny when it was all the rage among this set 30 years ago, but today it just appears old, dull and foolish, just like coke heads. There are some good moments in it, especially by Danny DeVito as a washed up agent, but a washed up Woody Allen is more to the truth.
It does feature some nice widescreen (true anamorphic)photography, Allen's first since MANHATTAN in 1978.
