NO ONE has seen this yet? After the heavier, weighter films I saw that day (Capote, Good Night and Good Luck, not to mention the Cinerama historical "pageant" How the West Was Won), I ended the night with this almost too-cool flick. Almost too clever for its own good, it still supplies lots of laughs (although in many cases you laugh in spite of yourself). Robert Downey Jr. (as a small time thief who stumbles into an audition) and Val Kilmer (as a MACHO gay private eye)platy well together. The script is way too knowing (cliches and coincidences pile up by the bushel here, a situation the Downey-delivered narration repeatedly points out). But it has such a witty visual style and spot-on performances that it somehow doesn't matter.
