This is an Ashton Kutcher vanity project. That should give you a good idea from the start as to the quality of this film.

The basic story (spoilers may follow):

Kutcher plays Spencer Aimes, a spy who marries Jen Kornfeldt after they meet in Nice, France. Jen has no idea what spencer does (he claims "corporate consulting... you know, downsizing"), but marries him anyhow.

Three years later, their neighbors and various acquaintances begin trying to kill them, all as the result of a contract that some mysterious person has put out on Spencer. Lots of shooting, lots of dying, lots of Katherine Heigl being the woman who needs saving, etc.

The movie was, frankly, awful. At the time we booked it, it was between "Killers" and "Marmaduke". I now think I might have been better off with a talking dog, rather than just the dog.

The odd thing about the movie is how violent it is for what is supposed to be a light romp. The deaths tend to be gruesome -- immolation, car strikes, impaling, etc. -- and no one seems particularly upset by what's happening.

I couldn't figure this one out for a while, but I believe now that the script was originally intended as a "black comedy". The "funny" parts of the film being the deaths of killers, and everyone's lack of concern for those who die.

The film actually makes a little sense when looked at in this way.

Maybe someone should convince Demi to keep Kutcher around the pool.

You're right. Unfortunately, the time for edits has passed me by. [Frown]

Maybe someone with the power can wrap the 7th and 8th paragraphs. I did at least include a manual spoiler warning.

Folks:

Saw this while on vacation. First 3/4 was okay, last 1/4 was absurdly ridiculas. Overall, however, better than I expected.

This was at a 3 screen theatre. The twop films I passed were IronMan 2 and Karate Kid.

According to IMDb this is also known as FIVE KILLERS.
There is only one other listing which is KILL THEORY that is also known as KILLERS (2009)
