It's a weird movie, but oddly entertaining if you dumb yourself down. Will Ferrell plays the average "trying to impress the family" guy, in this case, a stepdad, and he's good in those roles. Mark Wahlberg jumps in and plays his opposite as the real father and he's all cool and trying to make Ferrell look like the loser dad. Hannibal Buress actually does pretty good as the repairman who helps the family, as well as Linda Cardellini as Ferrell's wife/Wahlberg's ex-wife. The film basically lacks a funny script and tries too hard to go for the fart/violence/sex jokes, and while some people may adore this type of humor, it's a far cry from Wahlberg and Ferrell's last outing, The Other Guys, which is a much better movie. Overall, it's a fine hour and a half at the theaters, but it's nothing new and unfunny for the most part, but there is one good scene at a basketball game. I wouldn't recommend this to families with young kids though, as the second half is focused a lot on reproduction, so of course masturbation and sexual jokes ensure. Film: 1 and a half out of 4 stars Presentation: 4 out of 4 stars (flat works well for these types of films)
