This is the Franco-Belgian horror movie that achieved international attention when two viewers required first aid during a Toronto Film Festival screening recently.
Rough plot summary without spoilers: a devout, politically correct vegan is persuaded to give meat a try - but strictly of the human variety.
This film will either affirm Rush Limbaugh's world view the next time he decides to have an on-air rant against "veggie Nazis," or make him pause for thought, depending on your perspective! I think it would make an ideal double-bill with Forks Over Knives.
Needless to say, not a good choice for a date, and/or if you're planning on having dinner after the film. Theaters had better be prepared for poor popcorn sales, too. It's basically blood-spattered, gnarly horror with subtitles to provide arthouse legitimacy. Entertaining as far as it goes, but, surprise surprise, significantly overhyped.
