I really liked the first Secret Life of Pets, and this sequel is also a really excellent movie. It's not as original as the first one, of course, being a sequel, but it's still very clever.
As in the first movie, most of the characters are an absolute hoot; Chloe the cat steals the show in every scene she's part of and the cat lady is, well, just a perfect cat lady with her glasses and that old sedan.
The filmmakers have never managed to figure out what to do with the Sweet Pea budgie character -- he's always seemed to be kind of an add-on from someone who said we have all of these other pets included here so lets put in a budgie as well, but they've never managed to find anything really interesting or pivotal to the story for him to do other than to just be cute and present. (He gets momentarily eaten in this movie, but that's about it.)
The movie consists of three or four separate stories just to make up enough stuff to fill in a whole movie. But each story is entertaining, the characters are fun and interesting. and the whole movie is pretty darn funny and well made.
