Front Row Joe? Aaaah! Those policy trailers were like 20 minutes long (each)! Yikes! But I agree that the early ones were better.

I haven't been to an AMC theater for about 5 years. That is a good question.

You spelled "rhyme" correctly, Ky. Some UBB's actually incorporate a lame spell check feature. It works, but it is kind of annoying as it uses pop-ups. I wonder how many people would like that feature, though?

I assume that Front Row Joe is totally unrelated to No Neck Joe (of Spike and Mike animation fest fame)... (?)

Yes, AMC was still using "clip" as of a couple of months ago when I last saw a film at an AMC theatre.

It will be interesting to see what GCC does with the Candy Band trailers after they switch from Pepsi to Coke (which was rumored here a month ago or so...not sure if this has happened yet).

Are any independents out there still showing "Snack Canyon"? It's a personal favorite of mine and doesn't get shown anywhere near often enough. (Yes...I know...I'm weird...no one else seems to understand why I love Snack Canyon so much...deal with it...) BTW, Cinema Concepts still sells brand new prints of this, although it isn't on their demo videotape with most of the other generic trailers that they sell.

Cinemark no longer incorporates Front Row Joe. They got rid of him as the new line of Cinemark theaters were opening. Personally I prefer the classic very first Front Row Joe policy trailer over the new sci-fi artsy ones. Rumor has it that they might bring Front Row Joe back again someday. Hopefully they will bring back the old talking trash cans that thay had before I left.

Does anyone remember seeing that policy trailer with Front Row Joe disguised as Buzz Lightyear with a Cinemark medallion on the wings?

Included on my Ring of stuff is the Mann Policy, Mann Feature Presentation (Both Mono and In Stereo Versions), AMC Silence is Golden and Feature Presentation. Century Theatres Comet Trailer. 2 GCC Candy Band, but one of these is going to Scott Neff. Sound System Trailers include, Kintek Stereo, Dolby Stereo, Dolby SR with Henry Mancini Fanfare, Dolby Digital train, SDDS Old, SDDS Oddysey (New, Compilation of the Underwater, Jungle, and Volcano all in one.) DTS Inselected theatres, DTS Digital Sound. THX Grand (original) THX (The Simpson) THX (TEX The Technician). Brad, I noticed you are in Rockwall Texas. I will be in the Dallas area in early June for a Convention. Have access to a theatre I will bring my ring for fun.

Let's See what else do I have, Various Coke comercial's from 1994 - 1997, Oscar awards for 1989 and 1992. Will Rogers Institue with Charleton Heston. Mann Theatres Now Showing and Coming Soon, Cinemark Front Row Jow Now Showing and Coming Soon, GCC Now Showing and Coming Soon. Santiko's Theatres Policy (Before ACT 3) Cinemark Feature Presentation (Pre Front Row Joe) Dollar Cinema's Policy and Feature Prestation. All in All the Ring is about 45 minutes long. The classic "Pike" General Cinema policy was always my favorite. Anyone remember this one?

It starts out with a shot of clouds and the GCC logo...

...then the clouds fade out...

...as the stars of night appear...

...finally the GCC Logo dissolves into "Feature Presentation". Very nice powerful, yet soothing music and VERY classy!

Sean, is this the UA Trench policy you were referring to:

yes, that is the UA trailer from the early '90s i was talking about..

I also always liked the old GCC trailer with the GCC logo animated to look like a projector running and the 'GCCGCCGCC' coming out of the lens. The music was sooo wonderfully cheesy. I have a recording of it at this link

Just in case anyone wondered, That UA trailer from the early 90's was also when the Current UA logo started being used. Anyone old or current UA People in here remeber the Old Escape to the Movies ferature Presentation trailer? I have one of those on my Ring of trailers as well.

Sean: That General Cinema snipe has to be at least 30 years old! I remember it from when I filled in at the GCC Boulevard Mall twin in Buffalo in 1969.

That tune is a classic. Cheesy as it is, I think it's still cool.

I remember there being two or three different ones with the same music: A "comming attractions" one and a "feature presentation one" are the ones that i remember.

They ought to bring it back!

There is a Hollywood Theatres cinema in
the neighboring city of Beaumont in the
area which I live. 12 screens and the theatre
can only run any two of them in THX.
It is owned or co owned by Wallace Theatres
and is based in Dallas. The trailer features
a singing and dancing ticket. A 15 screen
Cinemark is also there. A brand new 10
screen Dickinson mall plex is in the
neighboring city of Port Arthur,a major
world oil&chemical complex literally
ome street next door to the town I live in.
4 of the Dickinson screens at the plex
were owned previously by Carmike. 10 XCN
consoles, brand new Ernemanns, new Big Sky platters.

All this talk of wonderful policy trailers is making me jealous.

If any of you policy trailer junkees get out the San Francisco way -- give me or Aaron Sisemore a heads up, we'd love to see your stuff.

Let see -- stuff I have.
UA Trailers from the Hallway on up through "Omega"
AMC "Silence is Golden" where all the music notes fall of the page and Clip surfs off into the sunset (or is it Xenon-set?)
Pacific Theatres the two most recent.
Century Theatres FEATURE PRESENTATION
Loews, with the talking lady.
GCC Feature Presentation with the GCGCGCGCC
Cinemark "Front Row Joe" 2 of the five minute long varieties.
I think I have a Cobb trailer... but I just got it awhile back, so it might not be Cobb.
The COKE "Planet" and "Have a Coke, and a Snack!" trailer.
A bunch of old Pike genereic trailers, with James Bond and Marylin Monroe charactures, and the ever so tasty looking candy bars.
Many many "Coming Soons" and "Now Playings" for theatres in my area that have closed.
A lot of random old snipes, my favorite being "A portion of the program will be repeated for those patrons that arrived late."

The list goes on and on. Oh and thanks to the generosity of somebody... I get a GCC trailer! WOO-HOO!!!

Plus theres my wonderful collection of 35mm stuff 2h 45m (almost three full 6000' reels' worth) of trailers (including many 70's red bands and a few gorgeous IB Tech ones), floor clips, and snipes/policies (I will post the complete list if you want me to)... Some highlights:

-SYUFY Luxury Theatres (Century before they were Century) Feature Presentation

-Blumenfeld Theatres Policy trailer (Eat your heart out Neff!)

-Coke 'Bicentennial' (yes 1976) trailer in decent Fuji color

-RC Cola 'Its Right For You' trailer from 1973

-Most of the indoor Theatre 'Bic' collection (lighters and shavers)

-numerous old snipes for 'coming soon to XYZ Theatre' (many of the theatres are long since closed

-2 Dollar Carload at the Midway Drive-In

-A Local favorite, D.C. Theatres and Real Estate

and many more... Like Scott said, if anyone is interested in getting together for some private screenings, we would love to see what you have, and we can possibly return the favor

Enjoy!

Aaron

The best snipes of all time are the "now showing on another screen at this theater", which should always be played in screening rooms or single screen theaters.

I saw a policy trailer I had never seen before this weekend - It was a Regal Cinemas trailer. Their approach was very interesting.. it was an old western town, and someone (who's point of view we are seeing) wanders into a bar. Everyone is scared of this person. The person turns out to be a little girl about 7 years old dressed as a cowboy. She wanders through the bar telling everyone things like "I don't wanna hear any cell phones, or pagers goin' off, ya hear?.." etc.. etc.. only her voice is dubbed over with a gravelly old texan speaking the words. it was interesting.. and long too..at least 2 minutes.. has anyone ever seen this?

Sounds like that Pepsi girl thing that never was funny even the first time she appeared in a commercial.
