From today's Daily News...

quote:
Britney's body of science

Britney Spears is helping to make the intricacies of semiconductor physics fun.

More than 2 million energetic Web surfers have flocked to the photo-filled Internet site: britneyspears.ac/lasers.htm

The teen pop goddess' low-cut neckline is an example of a "parabola," explains the site's author, British egghead Carl Hepburn of the University of Essex.

A curve of her legs follows the shape of a "valence band," says "Britney's Guide to Semiconductor Physics."

The site contains plenty of hard-core physics formulas and jargon, mixed with plenty of photos of Spears to teach the science used in lasers, microwaves and nuclear weapons.

The journal Scientific American says it is "one of the stranger approaches to teaching science that we've seen lately."

"I used Britney Spears to demonstrate that physics can have a fun side to it as well -- most of the images used of Britney relate to physics in some way," Hepburn told the British Broadcasting Corp.

I wonder if a twentieth of the hits that site gets are from people who actually intend to use the site for what it was meant for
