Speakinking of motor cycles,I think Simplex
projectors are Harley-Davidsons of projectors. Such as Otis is the Harley of
elevators. The cycle maker Indian is
back in the bike making business.

The similarities between a good projector and a good motorcycle are not lost on this group. A good bike is rebuildable and can be repaired by anyone with two brain cells to rub together, bailing wire, and chewing gum. You don't need a tech to replace a spark plug or time a shutter. Lubes are not esoteric and the levels are easy to check. My favorite similarity is that a good bike and a good projector will let you know when they need attention -- if they go tits-up on you, it's because YOU missed something.

Yep, I ride and older Harley. And Indian went out of biz in 1953. The name has been attached to other bikes -- most recently an S&S aftermarket Harley wanna-be which acording to the alt.harley.newsgroup filed for court protection from its creditors today. Calling it an Indian don't make it an Indian. No more than calling a projector a Simplex makes it a Simplex.

Matthew Bailey said at the beginning of this post......."Such as Otis is the Harley of

Personally. I can't ever recall getting into an Otis Elevator and stepping in a pool of oil or gas......nor an Otis elevator not starting when you want to go to a floor.
