It looks like the old Fountain Square 14 theatre at Metrocenter in Nashville, TN will get used for something:

Seems like the Metrocenter complex has come full circle. I moved away from Nashville in 1981 when the complex was getting started. I remember when the landfill was there.

A college would be a good idea as an alternate use for the building. Lecture halls, stages, and screening areas are a good idea.

Any chance that Carmike actually left the equipment in the building?

The Watkins Institute has moved all over Nashville. Hopefully, this could be a permanant home.

I used to work at the Hooters in Fountain Square back in the 80's (during my college days) - and it WAS a happening place back then. Like the newspaper article said, "once Carmike pulled out - the whole place shut down".

I was out there last Tuesday night for a business meeting of Wedding Professionals (I'm a wedding DJ on weekends), and the old food court for the mall has been turned into a really nice banquet hall & reception facility. Sure, some parts of the place look like "Chick-Fila" moved out yesterday, but it's really a well done facility. I spent most of the night cruising the parking lot in a PT Cruiser super-stretch limosuine.
