I need a suggestion for a chat group or listing place that would give the names of songs on the old LPs. Nowadays when you buy a CD you can never get the original songs that were on your favorite album. For instance...I want to get a CD of the original "Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66" album, but it's not available. So I have to get "greatest hits" or "classics" etc. None of them have all of the tunes that were on the original album. So I figure I can get a bunch of different Brasil 66 albums and put together one that has all those songs, but I can't remember them all or the play order. So I need some kind of album reference listing. Any suggestions???

Did you try : http://www.cddb.com

They maintain a listing of albums and the tracks on them.

Thanks John that s good reference point. A record store told me to check out allmusic.com and I tried them too. They actually had an original LP review with the songs all listed. I was able to find an imported CD that was an exact duplicate of the original LP, once I knew what the original album had on it. This is going to come in handy in the future.

Greg,

Check out www.brasil66.com <-notice it's spelled with an S not a Z

You'll find reviews and tracklistings, running times, songwriters, etc. on all the Brasil '66 albums. If you sign in to the forum and partcipate for awhile, you would probably find someone who would make you a copy of that album (It was available on CD as a Japanese import for awhile). I would offer to do it myself, but I don't have it! (Have several other Mendes, but not that one.)

That site is part of the A&M Corner, (www.amcorner.com), a site dedicated to the classic A&M Records label. Good site.

Thanks Mike great site. I was able to order that imported cd from Amazon and although it was a bit expensive at $30, at least it was availble and cheaper than buying all the various CDs it would take to reconstruct the original album, if it were possible at all. I can hardly wait to get it and crank up the Dynacos
