Check out the Ultimate Theater Experience...
http://www.geocities.com/chipgelmini/s8s.html

"For even better presentation, why not add a slide projector and run a slide show right before the movie starts? It gives your audience
finding their seats something to watch while they await the start of the show. "

Heck, I'd get a video projector to project this web site on the screen before the show. Its priceless!

Common-height screen! Take that, Cinemark, Regal, etc! Another possible trend for the megaplexes to consider: Do your laundry and watch a movie at the same time!

Oh my. Brad, could you archive this? Geocities can't handle the hits, and when I tried to refresh to finish downloading the pics it tossed me.

What I saw had me going "Whaaa???" with my jaw slack.

That is actually the screening room of Film-Tech member Chip Gelmini. He collects Super 8mm prints by night, but is a regular 35mm projectionist by day. I've spoken to him before and he is a very nice guy. He was going to get me some more pictures, but I've forgotten about it. Note his use of 35mm anamorphics insted of the crappy anamorphics made for 8mm projectors. Also, he has a very interesting "changeover board" for projectors without dousers that is pretty cool. Steve Guttag would definitely be envious. It's ashamed those pictures aren't on this page.

I confess I am jealous of anyone who has a film screening room, even if it's Super-8...

I agree David... I wasn't meaning to pick on him (Sorry Chip if you are reading). I give credit to anyone who goes to the extremes he did just to HAVE a screening room. Even though I don't agree with all the statments (Slide Projectors to give the audience something to watch before the show oh boy) his screening room is a lot better then my non-existant one!

What most impresses me is Chip Gelmini's ability to make the most of
the smallest spaces yet achieving high standards. It's easy to say "Sure, if I had the space..." yet he makes a laundry room double
as a real theatre experience. (Must be either a contented bachelor or very happily married.)
With three formats, he must have the appropriate camera lenses and
sound recording and editing gear, not easy or inexpensive to acquire!
This could fill another web page at least. From the high standards of his website I can imagine the beautiful presentations he must
make.

OK.........THIS is great to have people that would go to the extreme MR. D himself has gone to in order to achieve his cinema dreams!!!!
I take my hat off to this guy. I remember an old roomate whom would cook Top Ramen noodles without the flavor packet then pour spaghetti sauce on top and he would call it "Spaghetto" Get it? spahgetti Ghetto? Now this in a form is a ghetto setup but in appearance only. I would be proud to sit in those semi padded mettalic seats and watch a film in 8mm. I would bet that presentation would be better than your typical THX auditorium with the projectionist banging the candy girl in the popcorn storage room or smoking pot behind the theater rather than paying attention to a proper presentation that is so typical of the experience one gets from going to the movies nowadays.
MR. D........."Go on with you bad self!!"

Chip,

I'm glad I made your day. Honestly at first I didn't quite know what to
make of the site. It was both 'different' and interesting. After posting
my first message I got to thinking about what some people go through just to
have the real theater experience in their own home. Because of your love
for the hobby you take (I'm guessing) a large bulk of your time and money
just to do what you love. I think thats great, and good luck on any future
additions to your "THEATRE"!

Who know's, maybe I'll stop by sometime....at least its in the same state.

Any theatre with 2-projector changeovers are ok in my book!
