Well Sunday came the passing of yet another Austin Theatre. The Arbor 7 closed that night after the last shows. With the passing of this theatre also gone is the last vestage of the Presidio Theatre chain. The Arbor was a unique theatre that had character that has long been lost with the current trend of Cookie Cutter theatres. I was fortunate enough to be there the last day of operation and photograph the building from the outside to the auditoriums to the lobbyy to the booth. I will be sending you the photo's to both Brad and Adam for posting on thier respective sites.

This was one of those rare occasions where Regal did not close this theatre voluntarily. The landlord pretty much kicked them out to make way for a Cheesecake Factory restaurant. The Arbor had to have been the nicest art theatre I have been to yet. It was also unique in its lobby decor. The theatre opened up in 1985 and had a Back To The Future theme. Last week's Austin Chronicle (the weekly paper)mentioned that Regal is trying to lease the closed GCC Great Hills 8 less than a mile away.
