Seen (or heard) any good trailers lately?

I'm planning my pre-show trailer program for Star Wars Episode II and I'd like to run some interesting trailers that will appeal to the "Star Wars" crowd.

So far, I've got...

EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS
SIGNS
MEN IN BLACK 2

Wondering what's a pre-show trailer program? It's simple really...we're going to run the paid ads and a few trailers. Then the show will pause and the lights will come up with a 5-minute delay before the advertised start time, at which time the main program will roll over.

The reason for this is that Lucas is limiting the amout of trailers on "Star Wars."

There's a whole fax that came in with terms...I'll edit this to include all of them, but so far (from memory)...

Maximum of 4 trailers
Maximum of 3 trailers if there are commercial ads, and there is a time limit on commercial ads
Minimum 8 week run and must play in a theatre with digital sound (markets where digital sound is uncommon/non-existant are exempted)
No interlocking of prints
Print cannot be moved to another auditorium without prior consent of distributor (I'm assuming this doesn't apply to emergencies like projector malfunctions)

Lucas is allowing rolling stock ads this time around? I remember a memo expressly forbidding them on Episode I, and a six-minute total run time for any trailers placed on the print (which is why there were all those :30 and :60 teasers accompanying the Ep I print)...

Funny....I have some international customers who will make more money ( and will ignore his demands ) with their screen ads....Spiderman seems to have more recognition and pulling power with these customers.

I'm not familiar with the term "Rolling Stock." What is it exactly? Is this an American term for "Commercial Ads"?

(...and IIRC the trailers were limited to 8mins on Episode I, not six...)

Manny,

Rolling stock are basically commercials or ads put on before (rarely after) the actual previews. Check out the discussion about it in the Ground Level forum.

For the first time I got a memo saying exactly what trailers I have to put on my first, second, and third prints of SW.

Remember children that in most cases that the studios often have trailers attached to the print. In my experience I have found that when they limit the number of trailers they are only asking to limit the number of additional trailers other than the ones attached to the print itself.

Does anyone know if this is the case in this case?

I never heard anything about a 4 ttrailer limit for this movie.
Was this just a rumor or was there a fax I did not see?

What we have got on the prints now are:

Rolling Stock(Nestea)
Undercover Brother
Matrix Reloaded
Minority Report
AP2: Goldmember
Sum of All Fears
Men in Black

Not in that particular order and not on all prints. We have to have it in our two big houses (SDDS) and second biggest houses, one with DTS and the other SR-D.

PS Has anyone noticed that the Jedi Bastard himself looks so much like the freakin Ewoks!

With the amount of control freakery attached to this, and the %'age the Georgey boy is taking out of your pockets, is there any point to showing this 'film'?

I glanced at out of the porthole of the booth I was in today, and was compelled to reach for the focus knob, which turned out to be a waste of time and effort. It's printed so soft it's impossible to tell if the machine is in focus

Likely some fans of digital will use this as another peice of proof that digital must be better. Grrr.
