We have an on-screen advertising system that is fed from a standard DVD player through a regular old LCD projector during intermission. Today, I forgot to turn on the DVD player in the Star Wars auditorium, and the LCD projector displayed its "LCD MULTIMEDIA PROJECTOR" splash screen because there was no signal. This convinced several customers that they were watching a DLP presentation, and I got a few comments at the end of the show about how good the new projector looked. "What?" I asked. It took a few minutes to figure out what had happened. They couldn't believe that they were watching "crummy old film" and thought it looked good.

When we ran the DTS Flying Disc trailer with our Episode I prints, people assumed "The Digital Experience" meant that it was in DLP. This was back when there were maybe 10 DLP installations in North America or something to that effect.
