Did anyone here happen to see the indie by Oceanside Pictures, Swimming? I know it played in Boston for 8 weeks and that it played at Landmark's Kendall Square Theater. The reason I ask.. the film was shot entirely on location here in Myrtle Beach and we will open the film 6/21. I'm trying to gather outsider views on the film as I haven't seem it myself.

We ran it at my theatre in Danvers, MA. I myself did not see this film other then occasionally walking in. I can't honestly remember one person saying that they liked it although there were a lot of comments going in the other direction. If I remember correctly we ran it for 3 weeks.

We had this film at the same time as Kendall.

Jason
You might try e-mailing the Kendall Square to inquire about the film.
I believe their address would be www.kendallsquare@landmarktheatres.com
If that doesn't work let me know and I'll find a way to get through to them as I work for Landmark here in Seattle. There are also a couple of film experts who work in our Seattle office who might be able to help out.
Cheers.

Not looking for any specific info, just curious as to what others here may have thought about the film in general.

Check out the site www.swimmingthemovie.com from what I remember, people said the movie was bad but Lauren Ambrose was excellent in it. Most people were saying it was just worth to see for the acting alone, its too bad the story wasn't any good.

You should have a good show because it was filmed there, people will probably go just to see familiar places on the big screen.

Rachel,

Yeah, I thought the same thing about the turnout. I'm already taggging it on my VMS and my readerboards, as well as my website. I do recall them shooting the film in late 98. THey needed extras who rode motorcycles and about 10 of my buddies and I were gonna do it.. until we realized they were shooting those scenes after midnight.. we all work, so it never worked out. Bummer. I'd like to have seen myself on film..
And I've already hit the swimming website. I'm just interested to see what film folks have to say about it..

Well, as far as I know it had a very small release. The company actually made up little posters saying opening at Kendall Square and Hollywood Hits (that's me). As far as I know, we are the only 2 theaters that even ran it for the open. I do believe there is 1 other now running it in the Boston area.

Unfortunatly, I don't think you will get much of a response from "film people" because most of them have probably never even heard of it.
