What was Steve Guttag doing in the shadow of Kodak Office in Rochester Wednesday evening, June 19? Stranger still, he was shouting at other men while in the company of a pretty lady.

My guess is he was shouting at some Kodak representatives of the ScreenCheck program that dare to train people on how to use platters. Maybe I'm wrong, but that would make sense to me.

(I've got this weird feeling Steve Guttag will be seen around Dallas this weekend.)

FLASH!!!

This morning's Rochester Democrat and Chronicle has a sketchy report of last night's events. Evidently there was an altercation between two gangs from Rochester New York and Columbus Ohio. It started with throwing objects at each other, and escalated to the use of wooden clubs. At least one man from Rochester was caught stealing, another wore a disguise. The fight lasted almost three hours, and ultimately involved over 7000 people! Police and ambulances were at the scene.

Steve is not mentioned by name, but was seen talking to one of the Rochester gang members, "Howie the Hitter" Clark, and obtaining some sort of written document. It is not known if a dispute over platters and changeovers was part of the altercation, or whether Steve was upset by earlier discussion of cyan dye tracks.

The Rochester gang is said to have ties to several gangs in the Baltimore Maryland area, close to where Steve lives and works. The Columbus gang is associated with a much more prominent gang from New York City, nicknamed the "bombers". One of the Rochester gang members is believed to have defected to the New York City gang, where he has achieved nationwide prominence.

Radio reports indicate that Rochester Police Investigators are analyzing photos taken by the Kodak "Birdcam" yesterday, to try to determine how the altercation started. Suspicion was raised by the Rochester gang member who wore a bird disguise:

Police released a photo of the Rochester gang member disguised as a bird, in hopes of leaning his true identity:

They plan to compare the photos to earlier ones taken in 1997. It is hoped that the resolution of the Kodak digital "Birdcam" is sufficient to determine Steve's involvement in the growing altercation:

Police released a photo of "Howie the Hitter" Clark, who had been observed giving Mr. Guttag a written document:

Steve's female companion has been identified as a woman known as "Kris". In addition to associating with Mr. Guttag for at least the last three years, she is reported to have previous ties to the theatre industry.

Columbus commercial theatres are 100% platter and proud of it! Mr. Guttag will have a hard time convincing the Columbus gang to change over to reel-to-reel. (Non-profits around here ARE reel-to-reel...maybe he plans on infiltrating through them.)

...and lo these many years, I always thought the Red Wings were a hockey team from that Michigan State where the gangs run rampant through the parks looking for Baltimorians.

Yes, the Columbus Clippers are the farm team of the Yankees. It seems Mr. Steinbrenner went to high school here, and he as a soft spot for the city. The General Manager of the team lives about 1/4-mile up the street from me.

As for bombers, Columbus HAS been the manufacturer of bombers at the old North American Aviation plant, including parts for the B-1.

AND, the farm team for the Columbus Blue Jackets hockey team is the Dayton Bombers.

Well Howie "the hitter" Clark has finally made it to the big leagues!!!

Howie was promoted to the Baltimore Orioles! In his first major league appearance (7/16/02) he was assigned to the leadoff spot and on his first at-bat nearly smacked the ball out of the park but had to settle for a double and an then scored the first run for Baltimore that day. Nice job Howie. I hope you have a nice long career in the bigs now!

Steve
