Hello everyone,

It is with great sadness that we have to be the bearer of bad news. Jan Grefstad passed away this morning at 6am in Auckland Hospital. He suffered a fatal heart attack. As you may be aware he was undergoing chemotherapy for lymph gland cancer. This apparently had no bearing on the attack. Hopefully we have been able to reach you personally to convey this tragic news. At present we are not sure when the funeral will take place, but we will keep you posted.

Kind regards,
Mark & Amanda Matheson

Hello everyone,

Just to let you know that the service will be held at the Hollywood Cinema Monday the 12th of August at 1pm. We would be happy and privileged if you could attend.

Kind regards,
Mark & Amanda Matheson

Jan has run the Holloywood Cinema Avondale Auckland for many years and finally buying the building from the Auckland City Council , he Also ran the "Kosy" in Blockhouse Bay Auckland and was the last independent operator in West Auckland , also seeing out the Village 8 cinema that closed recently , this theatre has a Wurlitzer Organ there and they had regular Silent movies running and this was a feature of the theatre ...... he will be sadly missed .

Please go to the thread where this is discussed and work with that until you get it right. You are missing two crucial steps.

Just attended the Farewell of a cinema friend and he would have been proud , standing room only .... it was a moving tribute to a man who has done so much for the cinema ,not only in the Auckland area but throughout NZ , with Mike Clarke on the Wurlitzer a truly great send off and a good chance to meet up with cinema Industry friends not seen in a loong time .
