A friend of mine has found a town WHERE THERE IS NO MOVIE THEATRE! Can anyone on here give advice on how to go about getting one built there? Because there is so many people in 'the biz' on here, I am not going to give the town away. However, it is an endeavor that I am interested in pursuing.................

Well, if you are planning on getting bank or investor financing, you have do get some market research done (how many people in the town, average age, surveys of how many people would go to a movie theatre, competition). You will need a business plan with numbers on expenses, estimates of how many ppl. will come and how much money they will spend.. and many more things. I believe Ian Price had a good business plan posted on here a while back.. And I cant stop wondering, Is there a reason there isnt a movie theatre in this town?? Might want to check that out.

Depending on how big you want the theater expect to spen a few million to build. Find plenty of backers with the ability to raise the money needed. You will need to do the investigating and come up with a business plan to present to potential investors. Don't just build it anywhere. Find the best place near food and retail stores not out in the middle of no where unless there will be development in that area. Check zoning and meet with your city counsel and present your proposal to them for any zoning issues.

You might want to do a search of the archives for "business plan". I'm not sure which forum the discussions are in, so you might want to check the top three. There are some good tips in there from people who have done just what you are interested in.
