When I was at the Ziegfeld to see the revival of Metropolis some weeks back, they had several big wooden crates in the rear lobby under the stairs which were labeled "BARCO." I assumed they were installing a new digital projection system from Barco. Perhaps this was just for a special event?

Not quite, the Ziegfeld has had their Barco system in place for quite some time now, at least a year. Maybe they were just getting the boxes out of the booth!

yeah, when I went to the Zeigfeld last spring break, I got the booth tour and the projectionist showed me.

Are these new digital systems made by technicolor?? I know Texas Instruments makes them as well.

Technicolor Digital Cinema, Boeing Cinema, and Avica, along with other vendors, provide the playback servers.

Christie and Barco are OEMs of TI's DLP Cinema Projector.
