The other night I cought this show on Fox called Stupid Behavior Cought On Tape.

Generally speaking, I cannot stand and tend to ignore Fox, but I just happened to catch this incident that kept me in stiches! I figured I ought to comment and I found a similarity to Mr. O'Shea's song about Godiva and Drunken Engineers in the Non-US Citizen report here thread!

So anyhow, the video shows a Canadian National RR Engineer pulling a large double stacked freight under a bridge. Anyhow, the locomotive barely cleared the bridge and the remaining consist did not! The train did not take the bridge out, rather the bridge took the train out! The Engineer was totally unaware that the bridge was crunching the entire consist, cause he kept pulling! What finally awoke him was the loads of spectators that had gathered! So what does this dumbass Engineer do? He stops the train and goes into reverse, crunching the cars again under the bridge in the opposite direction. Commentator stated that the damage was in the millions of $$! [Eek!] [beer] [Big Grin]

For the record, I don't endorse drinking by Train Engineers (just the Engineers that design the train [Smile] ).

But who loaded the train? However is responsible for loading the cargo containers onto trains should also have to take into consideration which route the freight will take and if there are any low bridges!

I think the official explanation was the train was on the wrong set of tracks: was on the south track instead of the north track (or vice-versa). One track or the other had greater vertical clearance.
