Four cinemas were bombed, with 14 dead and 300 injured, so far!
The blasts were apparently simultaneous at about 6pm. they say that there were atleast 2000 in the cinemas at the time.

I believe we have a film-tech member from Bangladesh, i hope he is ok, along any others who were there!

i hope my link worked, if not i'm sure you'll find it on any news site!
sorry, i couldn't work out how to link properly!

This is what the Associated Press says:

The bombs went off within 30 minutes of each other starting at about 6 p.m. Saturday, and were believed to have been planted in the projection rooms of the theaters, a police official said on condition of anonymity.

I certainly hope our Film-Tech buddy is OK....I guess we will just have to keep our fingers crossed until he posts something.

Arrests have been made, including an opposition politician, following the cinema bombings.

Are any of you operators thinking of implimenting some more security measures in your own theatres to avoid this possibility in your own booth? I know that you already dont allow unauthorized personel there.

It's going to get worse, I'm afraid, before it gets better. There are many in the world that would love nothing better than seeing all of us "rich" Americans blown off the face of the earth.

I'm not at all "rich." If I missed one paycheck, many bills would go unpaid, and that includes house payments. [Frown]

Anyone wandering around in our theatres in a suspicious manner is challenged if I see it happening. We do not (and have not) allow unauthorized personnel to gain access to sensitive areas, such as the office and booth spaces.

Our broadcasting company operates in a similar manner. We do have tours from time to time of high school kids, scouting groups, etc. We feel comfortable about that. But if some stranger waltzes in, forget it!
