This is a longshot, but if anyone can point me in the direction of a good (and free) popping popcorn sound effect file, it would really help me out. [Big Grin] I'm not finding much on Google except on sound effects CDs that cost $$. The sound of a big commercial popper like in movie theatres would be perfect. [Smile]

Oh, just take a computer motherboard and toss it in the microwave. [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Dave, let me check that archives here at the radio station....maybe I might have something, no guarentee, though.

Edited because I thought you were Jack from Port Orchard. [Smile]

I checked WinMx and Limewire. No hits. Also checked our archives, nothing there, either.

Can you get a high quality microphone and make your own?

I've been looking everywhere, still no luck. I'd love to buy a microphone & recorder for this but it's not in the budget. [Wink]

Hey Dave,
Get a cheap mic and use your computer to record it! Aren't you a long time Microsoft employee that knows all the ins and outs of these wonderful OS's.

Popcorn2 is really popcorn popping. Popcorn1 is from Kentucky Fried Movie? I think ? Gave me a chuckle.

No problem! You're welcome!

The reason I have the numbers backward is because that's the order I downloaded them. I heard the first one... (I also think it's from "Kentucky Fried Movie".) and laughed my ass off. Just had to have it.

I found the other one afterward but posted it first because it's the real sound.

Dave, if I can get an impedance match with a good quality microphone and a boat anchor computer, I'll record a whole batch of popping, right down to the last fizzle. If I forget, hammer me on it.

Paul, that would be great! [Big Grin] Don't go to a lot of trouble though. It just seems kind of weird that there aren't more popcorn wav files floating around -- seems like it would be a popular sound effect.

BTW, that popcorn sound was in QuickTime .mov format. I've converted it to .wav so if anyone wants it let me know & I'll be happy to send you the wav file.

Now I'm searching for casino background noise -- not necessarily specific noises like a slot machine or roulette wheel, just the general ambient background noise of a casino...

It was originally in .wav format. I changed it to QT.
The reason for that is because it's automatically a clickable link.

If you have QuickTime Pro, you can save the movie onto your computer then export it into almost any format you want.
