Roger was profiled by BRAVO on a show that aired (wired?) this past weekend. If you caught it you saw some glimpses of my screening room. [Big Grin]

Roger Ebert is a excellent film critic and I enjoy reading his reviews but only after I had seen the movies. I have found his reviews are filled with 'Spoilers'. A classic example is "ANTWONE FISHER". I saw the movie because of the grade it received from people who saw it on opening day and reported on CinemaScore. The movie was excellent and I ejoyed it very much and because it was a true story, I wanted to know more about the real Antwone Fisher and felt I coluld get some of that information from Ebert's review. Because I had already seen the movie, I read the entire article and found it filled with a lot of information I would have not wanted to know before seeing the movie. If you have not seen the movie and did not read Ebert's review, go see it first and than read the review and you will understand what I mean.

Like I said, Ebert is an excellent critic and I am very pleased that the American Society of Cinematographers is honoring him.

The thing I like most about Ebert is he's willing to give a movie credit for being good for its own type. Unlike many critics, he won't give a Ninja Turtles movie a bad review just BECAUSE it's a Ninja Turtles movie...only if it's a BAD Ninja Turtles movie.

Roger Ebert is one of the few critics (and among the first) to bring attention to things like widescreen formats and how preserving aspect ratios or original black and white photography is very important to the film experience.

Ya gotta respect him for that. Although, I always agreed more with Gene Siskel's opinion.

Siskel & Ebert once did a whole show about home theater. They extolled the virtues of laserdiscs over VHS, explained letterboxing in great detail with visual examples of what happens to the picture with pan-and-scan, and they talked about surround sound...

Steve you have a very nice screening room. I watched the show on Bravo the other day. I was wondering at the time if that was your screening room.
