I was just thinking of some classic film songs that I think helped to make the film. Can anyone top this TOP 5.
1. Cry Little Sister / LOST BOYS
2. My Heart Will Go On / TITANIC
3. Goo Goo Dolls song from CITY of ANGELS
4. Danger Zone / TOP GUN
5. Gangsta's Paradisew / DANGEROUS MINDS.

And, of course, John Williams` score for Star Wars. While there is no film "song", the entire soundtrack is extremely distinctive and had many remembered themes. The opening title alone is practically a "film song".

Clearly Fight The Power by Public Enemy for DO THE RIGHT THING. It was the heart and soul of that movie.

Philadelphia had a lot of good songs including the one by Neil Young. But the Springsteen one became pretty popular.

Say Anything and Peter Gabriel's In yOur Eyes. No elaboration needed.

Hmmm

Heavy Metal had a great rockin soundtrack albumn.

If you are into classical...2001: A Space Odyssey is great...considering not a single "tune" for that film was written for it yet they are all now associated with that film as if they were.

FAME certainly had a great soundtrack.

Flashdance

Many James Bond films had great theme songs, Live and Let Die, For Your Eyes Only, The Spy Who Loved Me, A View to a Kill...all come to mind.

HELP! and A HARD DAYS NIGHT certainly were great Rock Soundtracks that were also Gold Albumns in their own right

TOMMY, a Rock Opera with The Who certainly would qualify.

Those that loved Queen would certainly like the FLASH GORDON soundtrack

THE BLUES BROTHERS had a GREAT soundtrack

I suppose I could go on but...those came immediately to mind.

Natural Born Killers made the Cowboy Junkies song famous all over again. Leonard Cohen opens up the album.

Pulp Fiction revived the use of 60s, 70s songs in a trendy way.

Weird Science- the title song by the Danny Elfman led Oingo Boingo.

The Bodyguard : well if we are going to be including titanic song, then like it or not, one is going to have to bring up the whitney houston song.

Ghostbusters

Whos That Girl: the music video doesn't give you an indication of how truly wretched this movie is.

That THing You do: great title song. boring movie

(Now that I'm not in zombie-mode)

I must say that the soundtrack to Flash Gordon is most certainly what allows the movie to withstand the test of time!
Queen rocks! [Cool]

Didn't I already add FLASH GORDON to the list about 4 posts ago?

And THAT THING YOU DO was not boring...it was a wonderful film that certainly captured a feeling of its era.
