Hi everyone. I'm wondering if anyone has heard of or has any information about Maya Theatre's? Seems they are looking in my area to build a new multiplex.

Will these plex's all look like ancient pyramids?

Maybe they're Maya Angelou theaters.
Instead of ads & trailers, there'll be 10 minutes of poetry reading before the movie.

Mark is probably right though; a human sacrifice on top of the theater is what's going to bring them in.

Would this be them: Maya - South Asian Theatre Company?

They're not a 'chain' but it looks like they have something to do with film. Apparently they are based in Mississauga. If this is who you are talking about Rick Long or Gordon McLeod might know something about them.

FWIW, Adam doesn't have it listed under 'Circuits' on Cinematour.

You might also try registering on the Cinematour Forums and ask there. There aren't too many people registered yet, but it seems someone new registers and supplies an answer every time someone asks a question.

Never heard of them.

I'll see what I can find out after I organize the 600 photos I took in Chicago (before I forget what they're photos of).

[Later that afternoon ...]

Still never heard of them.

Maya Theatres was the name of the chain that supposedly was going to build a complex in Downtown Bakersfield as part of an urban renewal sports and entertainment project (including baseball stadium, aquatic center, etc. The deal fell through. Now an aquatics center is al that's left of that project.
