Just thought I'd post notice that I feel absolutely lame and useless when it comes to this here website. I haven't worked in a theatre management or projectionist capacity in THREE years. It's still interesting to read what all is going on etc, but I really wish I had something constructive to say, cause I am still absolutely intrigued/obsessed with theatres.

Is anybody else here that far removed from day to day operations and feeling as "lame-duck" as me?

Bring on the lame duck jokes... come on people... [Wink]

Get yourself a projector and a few old prints to play with.

That sounds like a pretty good Idea in my opinion. Im guessing that there has to be small portable projectors around that are capable of 35mm playback aren't there? What does a current 35mm cinema movie projector cost, about $3000 or so ?

If I was out of the theater bizz for a long time, and wanted 35mm projection in my home for example, I would want to know if there were small portable 35mm projectors available. That way I would still get to work with a movie projector and show films at my leisure. That would be so cool. [Smile]

Not only have I been out of the booth, but have been out the theatre business for about 10 months.

I resigned as GM of the Regal Goldstream 16 theatre in Fairbanks, Alaska about 10 months ago. I have since started my own business.

Luckly the first part of April I will be getting my hands on film again. A couple of things I have been working on are panning out. [Smile]

This website is such an awesome resource to stay in touch with what is going on.

Yeah Scott, you've pretty much summed up how everybody here at Film-Tech feels about you! [Smile] Just kidding, of course. I was out of the booth for about two years and still participated, though mostly in Yak and creating graphical crap like the buttons on the left. I even had time to make them change color if you move your mouse over them! But now that I'm back in the booth, there is no time for that. [Smile]

I've been out of the business for a little over a year, and at least once a week I still have dreams about it. When the right thing comes along around here I'll try to get back in (a brand-new theater just opened today that I'll have to check out and see if it's worthy of having me [Smile] )
