Sure, you can feel bad for a world event, but do you REALLY need to wear a ribbon to show rememberance/awareness/support for AIDS victims or whatnot? I always see it on actors and other people in the public eye after some sort of tragedy. Does this automatically mean that they care? This same ribbon seems to represent every tragedy that occurs. Except 9/11. That one was/still is represented by a small US flag pin, which I think is pretty cool. But the ribbon annoys me greatly for some reason. It's just so, well.... politically correct! It is my way of letting people know that I remember and I will NOT forget. Including a clear one, the "Anti-Awareness Ribbon Awareness Ribbon" or something to that effect. The only time I wear a "ribbon" is around my finger so I remember things that way. If I don't wear one and someone else does that means they care more than I do? Not sure I follow your logic there. I think it has been over-used and now means zip. The Seinfeld episode was great to illustrate the stupidity of political correctness taken to the ridiculous. You may want to believe that you don't care and that you don't give a damn. But you know what..you do...just as I do because we come from a different time and a different place. I never said I didn't care. As you know, I care a whole lot. Even without all my piercings! And now, that "IT" seems to have started, I pray for our young guys and women who are doing their job for us. I also weep for the innocents that are caught up in all this. Oh, BTW, I don't think age or "era" has anything to do with it. I took your suggestion and I have been drinking "Martini's" for the past two days. They sure are delicious...I have finished a large bottle of Beefeater's, also of Bombay Saphire, two bottles of Plymouth Gin and several bottles of Grey Goose. I have run out of onions and had to finish the one in my hand with an olive.
