Author Topic: What is Polling? Manny Knowles "What are these things and WHY are they BLUE???" E.g.: What´s the best soundformat? x SRD x DTS x SR x SDDS And when people vote you can see what people think, or at least what the people who pressed the button thought... Not very stastically accurate, but gives a momentary look at the issue. Hope this helped. First of all, the people that choose to participate may be the ones that are more likely to hold a certain opinion. Second, if the poll is not created carefully, the answers may not be mutually exclusive. For example: Which type of theatre auditorium do you prefer? 1. A THX certified one 2. One with DTS sound 3. One with Dolby Digital sound 4. One with stadium seating 5. One with red decorations and drapes 6. The newer Regal-style auditoriums 7. One that is in a theatre managed by Brad Miller I've seen many polls on the Web that were almost as bad. The results of this poll would be mostly meaningless. I suppose for kicks we could make some meaningless one for grins, but certainly not for anything too serious. In any case, I don't think we should have any polls until we poll everyone as to whether or not we want to have polls. And only moderators can start polls, otherwise there would be just too damn many of them. Don't worry, the moderators are creative enough to keep the polls good and fun. I like Scott's list, but wouldn't each need to be their own thread?
