I will be the guest speaker of the Toronto Section SMPTE for their meeting on Tuesday evening April 8 (7:00pm) at the Rogers Communication Centre on the Ryerson University Campus.

Here is a link to the program information:

http://www.smpte.org/sections_chapters/toronto/yyz.htm

You do not have to be a SMPTE member to attend. I look forward to meeting Toronto-area participants of Film-Tech at the meeting.

I'll be there if I can get out of a planning meeting for our solar car project.

Hey John,
If you're planning on staying at Gords house while you're in Toronto be sure to check your shoes the next morning....his cat likes to leave little gifts sometines..... [Wink]
Sorry, I've cancelled my hotel reservations at the Toronto Hilton as I have to unload 23 DP-70's later in the week....I may never be able to walk again after that. I'll finally be able to get some rest!
Mark

John,

Your presentation sounds really interesting! Would it be possible to get a print copy, or to download & print? I know
some of that information can be found elsewhere, but I so appreciate your talent for written expression, ably demonstrated in your Film Notes for the Reel People and on Film-tech, that I'd prefer to save it with Pytlak provenance.
Sorry I won't be able to attend the Toronto meeting.

Gerard

Here's an on-line copy of the darkroom illumination paper:

Sorry, the film format presentation is unscripted, and the 100+ slide PowerPoint presentation is not on-line.

FWIW, Daryl O'Shea was there. [Smile]

Indeed, I was there... and it only took a trek by foot across two cities and a half dozen bus rides.

John put on a great presentation, which included the above paper and a '111 Year History of Film'. His slides were the sharpest looking ones I've ever seen. [thumbsup]

Kodak Canada was also kind enough to provide snacks and refreshments for everyone in attendance.

I also got to meet Alex Alzo from Deluxe Toronto who shared a bit about the challenges they face at the lab and the types of lighting they use in the dark rooms.

Mark, I stopped by at the Toronto Hilton, apparently your reservation wasn't cancelled. I stayed there the night... expect a bill in the mail. Sorry about the mini-bar. Thanks. [Smile]

Deluxe Toronto uses many of the darkroom lighting concepts outlined in my paper, which I first presented at the SMPTE Technical Conference in New Orleans on September 8, 1995. [Smile]
