Wow sounds great , not sure id class Spinal Tap as a musical though.

Im screening 'Hello Dolly' on the 18th May here at City Screen York LTD (U.K.) Original 1970 TODD-AO print with only slight colour fade, Amazing sound though.

Best of luck with your shows Bill.

I KNOW this came from the official brochure of the American Cinemateche (they've made plenty of mistakes in the past), but why are 8 channels needed to reproduce the original Quintaphonic (QuintOphonic according to the film's end credits)soundtrack. ANother problem, Quintophonic sound used only 5 towers in the original set-up. Left rear and right rear speakers were supposed to match the left and right stage speakers, and were mounted in direct alighnment. So the reproduction through a serieds of small surrounds dones't QUITE match the way the fil was originally heard.

However, Im sure its superior to those SR two-teack/4 channel prints that Columbia released in the 90's.

The American Cinemateche was lucky enough to get a brand new 70mm print (off the ON, no less during their fall "Really Big Film festival. The print was just finished a couple of days before the showing and played back with a special DTS Todd-AO format 6-track sound disk. Incredible experience.

Paul that info was from the Egyptian site. About the new prints.

A original 4 Track Mag Quintaphonic print from the Fox Wilshire
Theatre is still located in Los Angeles. Plus the Quintaphonic decoder from that theatre.
