I was going to start a topic on something like this but found this one during a search. Don't know how I missed this. ONLY TWO REPLIES! Shit that is pathetic! COME ON! We Cinemarkers have to show ourselves!

Yes, you must show yourselves and be proud! Cinemark is the best! They take care of their employees... hell they almost pay them too much! They create a nice, comfortable atmosphere for the employee. They LOVE projectionists and they are always fair. Always. It is the best job you will ever have!

I remember my Cinemark days:
- Usher-B, not projectionist because of projectionist unions
- $5.75 / hour for booth work
- "if it works AT ALL don't bother trying to fix it, much less calling a Cinemark regional tech."
- lowest turn over rate I've seen [Wink] [Wink] [Wink]

At least that was my 1 1/2 year [thumbsdown] Cinemark [fu] experience [Smile]

I used to work for Cinemark. Here is what I did.

Concession
Usher
Stock
Maintenance
Usher-B
Inventory, different than stock.
Helped managers close.

All for a whopping $5.60 an hour, and it took me over 2 years to make that much. Needless to say, I am much happier working for an independent.

I don't work for Cinemark, but before I was promoted I only increased $1 per hour in three years. After being promoted I made/make quite a bit more.

Cinemark "Booth Manager" here. I think experiences with Cinemark depend on the theater you work for, or maybe not but our managers like what they do and make working there comfortable. Our tech is always polite, knowledgable and willing to train me on new things when he comes out as well. Sure the pay is not luxurious but then again I am 20 and going to college and for that it is enough.
I'm not saying Cinemark is "the best" because I have no grounds to say that, it is the only theater I have worked for. Maybe since our theater is 45 minutes away from the corporate headquarters it makes a difference?

Jeremy/Stewart

Were you guys working at megaplexes or eight screen theatres that did not do a lot of business. If it is the latter then that is why you were not making a lot of money, it is not because Cinemark is cheap. In the three years and some odd months I have been working for Cinemark my pay has gone up $4.

Stewart

The turnover rates could be from a bad GM, a lot of seasonal employees, business flow, etc. When were you with Cinemark. The techs were not always from Cinemark but an outside service so I wondering if it was them or a Cinemark tech.

Don't let the bad apple spoil the bunch.

Manuel I worked at a Megaplex. It had alot to do with the GM. He sucked. And me and the manager who did the evaluations for raises didnt get along to well either. She was one of those people who can't be wrong, and I am one of those people that likes to prove that someone is wrong, especially during an argument. She is the one who let me train in booth, but didn't want to lose me in concession, so she made sure I wasn't scheduled to many booth days. And all this time, the GM would always take her side on everything. Other than that, I really liked working there, the other managers were good, and I met some of my best friends there, along with my wife. Plus the booth crew and booth managers there are some of the best at the job. It was just the people that controlled the money that I had a problem with.
