There is a consumer format called DTS Interactive, and I am not quite sure what it is supposed to be or what the specs are. Does anyone know?

The game for PlayStation 2 called "Grand Turismo Theft Auto III Vice City" has DTS Interactive. I have this game. I hooked it up via the digital cable to my receiver and switched on the DTS Interactive and it sounded WEIRD. No center channel at all. The dialog was routed through the left and right channels and it was extremely edgy sounding (and yes, my receiver has DTS capability, even discrete 6.1 DTS-ES). I had to switch back to normal analog Pro-Logic. Does anyone know what the specs are for this format and what it is supposed to be?

It is supposed to be real-time dts encoding and decoding for interactive applications such as games.
The basic sounds of the game are stored as sound files and then mixed and encoded in real-time to reflect the actions and position of the player in the game environment.
Dolby Digital can also be used for games.
There is no center channel because that is the standard config for PC game sound (2 front, 2 rear channels). It makes sense since most PC gamers are in a firm position in front of the screen. Maybe less so for the Playstation where gamers play on the TV and maybe located anywhere in the room (probably the couch).
There might be an option for discrete center channel. I am not sure though. Since I am an entirely serious person, I don`t play games.

Most Xbox games have realtime 5.1 Dolby Digital, discrete everything. It sounds incredible.
