He was a very beautiful orange and white tabby and his name was Blaze. I will miss him just as badly as Jerry when he passed away about 3 years ago also from kidney problems. After having had a similar experience with a loved cat of many years, my wife and I adopted a pair of Siamese, thinking the pain would be lessened when one died. But when the male died at age 16, the female stopped eating and followed him after a short time, in spite of vet's care. A year ago we adopted a pair of newborn kittens. "Cats are children with fur."
