Anyone out there going to be running this? Just curious if there is anything going to be added or done special to it. I think the release date is September 19th. There may only be a 10 print release of it too.

We ran it as a Saturday midnite about 6 months ago. It started with about 500 in the audience and ended with about 90. I'd never seen it but I think Maltin hit on the head saying it's way too loooong and not very interesting. I know we'll pass on it.

But hey! The "Animal House" DVD says "Scarface" will have DTS!

I may rent it just to get a good freeze frame of Mary-Elizabeth Mastrantonio in that nightie before she gets riddled by machine gun bullets. She has some nice, bodacious ta-tas.

The movie had become a cult classic among some people for reasons I just cannot understand. I saw the movie at the Waikiki #3 when it was firt released and I did not like the movie at all. It was a so so gangster film and I have seen much better ones before. I was also very annoyed by the excessive profane dialogue. I am no prude when it comes to the use of the 'F' word if it is used a couple of times in a film but when it is use in almost every sentence, I find that very excessive and offensive. This is just my personal opinion for those of you who have no problem with excessive cussing in films- and every day life.

The knowledge that we have worked with more subcontractors should not be unexpected.

But I agree that movie just drug on & on & quickly wore out any interest. The language had nothing I hadn't heard before, the shoot-em-ups had been shot up before, etc. I think folks were expecting a sort of Cuban-American Peckinpah take on the Godfather, & instead it was just a sort of like one of the old B gangster pictures.

On September 30th, Universal will release on DVD "Scarface". If you buy the Special Deluxe Gift Set of "Scarface" it will include the 1983 and the 1932 features. List price is $59.99

Why is Universal so hot to re-release this version of Scarface? Snoop Dogg, Sean "Puffy" Combs and one other rapper said this movie had a major impact on hip-hop.

Only big-city megaplexes are getting this re-release; they include the AMC Empire in New York and the UA Riverview Stadium in Philadelphia. The ad in this week's Village Voice says the re-release is in DTS/Dolby Digital and for one week only.

Shamefully, Focus Features and Universal did not develop a website for Scarface. They also do not mention this picture at all on their own websites.

Sure they did: www.scarface-dvd.com . This "re-release" is esentially a promotional vehicle for the new DVD. There's a big media event in New York tonight.

Why is it shameful when a movie doesn't have a website? Just curious.

I was under the impression that there was already enough pull-advertising out there.

Scarface did so well last week, it's being held over. Wonder if Focus plans to expand this beyond the big-city megaplexes?

The fact that it is not releasing in Atlanta is ridiculous.
