Author Topic: How To Use LDAP? Manny Knowles "What are these things and WHY are they BLUE???" Posts: 4247 From: Bloomington, IN, USA Registered: Feb 2002 posted 10-04-2003 11:49 PM                     I've noticed that the Address Book in Mac OS X has a group called "Directories" but there's nothing in it. No addresses there. And I can't add any to it. Further investigation revealed that the Directories group is for LDAP servers. It can be used as a shared email addressbook, an authentication mechanism (replaces NIS and NT domain logons), and for other uses. It's probably not useful for an individual user, unless you are very bored. I did some searching and came across some actual LDAP directories for a few different universities. It's interesting to know about but I don't have much use for it as an individual user right now.
