We are currently running the "Magdalene sisters" again and maybe my UK colleagues could advise regards some information.
I understand that the organizations which this Order ran, such as the laundries actually existed until quite recently in the UK.
What were they actually and when did they close.
The conditions and treatment of the girls seemed draconian.

I read the last one closed in 1996.
