John Spooner Expert Film Handler Posts: 186 From: South Australia, Australia Registered: Jan 2003 posted 01-25-2004 10:35 AM                     My fellow Aussie colleagues will be interested to know that the Regent Theatre here in Adelaide will close on Wednesday January 28th after 75 years of operation. Hoyts will close the Regent, opened in 1928 because of "falling patronage". Our colleague John Cronin has organized a closing event starting at 7pm, including old newsreels, the documentary "Regent Remembered" which was produced by the late Howard Williamson, and the feature film "Seven Year Itch". All past staff invited. The end of an era here in Adelaide. To quote the late Knight Barnett "Thanks for the Memories". Regards.
