"HOUSE OF SAND & FOG" will be released on DVD on March 30th and I was surprised how this critically aclaimed film did not have a normal wide release here in Hawaii. When it opened in late December at only the Ward 16 and the Dole Cannery, I thought it was only limited to a few screens in the beginning and open wide in early January after the holidays. I do not know if the film had a wide release elsewhere but "HOUSE OF SAND & FOG" only played in one other theatre beside the Ward & the Dole Cannery and never played in the majority of our mutiplex theatres here in the islands. Based on what I know about the film, it was a major motion picture that usually gets a wide release. Does anyone know what happened?

No matter how good the acting, no one wanted to see a depressing film. That said, we open here for morning shows this week to see if we can eek out just a little bit of money.
