With WalMart having had huge bins of older DVDs at 2 for $10 and 3 for $12 or $13 for more than a year and Best Buy and Circuit City and others following suit, it makes one wonder what percent of them are sold full price. Anybody know?

A lot of the DVDs you find in those Wal-Mart discount bins are usually older titles ("Altered States" anyone?) or titles that did mediocre to bad at the box office. Sometimes you'll find some pretty good titles in there.

Generally, the really good top-shelf movies get released and released again repeatedly on DVD. The old versions do get discounted down to lower prices (like the $10 to $15 range), but that's usually after the title has been around for quite some time. I'm sure New Line is has made all their money from "The Mask," and selling copies of it for $8.88 isn't going to hurt them much.
