I got that fax today and I started to roll on the ground laughing....Van Helsing is being shipped under the name "Vatican Detective"..."From death till Glory" was good....but this takes the cake. I wonder if these guys actually pay someone to come up with these names or if they just draw them out of a hat??

I thought the general understanding was to not discuss technicolor code names.

yes, that is the rule but since it will be in the theatres tomorrow it's probably not worth worrying about. "Vatican Detective" sounds like a good title for a real movie, actually.

I don't know about that, from what I have heard most piracy takes place in the back of the airborne trucks. [evil]

The title sounds like something about a guy out to put a stop to naughty papal shenanigans. Someone call pee wee Herman and tell him there is a role available.

At least there was no attached trailer.

Seriously though, these fake names on the cans are a friggin' joke. They aren't stopping any real bootlegger. Hmmmm, let's see...here's these film cans labeled "Vatican Detective - Universal Studios" that are on Airborne trucks the day or two before the Universal movie Van Helsing is released. Nah, that couldn't POSSIBLY be Van Helsing! durp! [Roll Eyes]

Last year, DKP 70mm sent us two movies with the titles Project Silver and Project Silver II, both for IMAX ... hmmm, one was mid-May, and the other one at the beginning of November. Funny ... you think those were the "projects" that Joel Silver worked on? Nah!

The studio print that I ran last week one can was labeled "Van Helsing" and the other was labeled "Vatican Detective". So when it was picked up by a courier service, the courier said I gave him a wrong can. [Roll Eyes]
