For those unfamiliar with the case this was the married, mother-of-four school teacher who had an affair with a 13 year old student, was caught, jailed briefly, then immediately resumed the affair eventually having two kids by him. She was finally jailed. She was just in the news having been released after serving 7 years. She plans to return to the "victim" now 21 years old and has had her lawyers ask that a restraining order be lifted.

I bringing it up now because just flipping around channels I see that LIFETIME channel is airing a 2000 made-for-tv movie on the topic which was not previously scheduled, just to take advantage of the publicity.

BTW, how many years would a male repeat offender have gotten?

Just to clarify, the male, now 21, is the one requesting that the judge's order seperating them be lifted.

I fail to see what all the fuss is about! Let them see each other for Christ's sake! They both want to get together. The FUCKING "judges" need to fuck off!

And I'm sure if the "partner" roles were reversed, the adult male would have been sentenced to 8000 years in solitary confinement else the general population of the prison would kill him.

Yeah! I LOVE the legal system! It's soooo equal and "just".

The prison she was in (Purdy Women's Prison) is only 40 miles from my apartment.

What Phil said. The guy's legal now and she's hot, so he wants more. Plus, they've got kids together. I'm sure that means something.

And, yes, if the shoe were on the other foot and it was a GUY with a 12 yr. old girl, he'd have been strung up by his balls. Only, if (and I say "if") he were released, the girl would probably just go "Eeeuww!!".

Given that the male had also committed an offence, did he or his parents not face any legal action?

In this case, he was merely the "victim" [Roll Eyes] . In the eyes of the law, he did not know better.

An update.... since it hasn't been posted yet.

The judge did in fact "butt out"... and lifted the no-contact order... so they're free to do whatever...

I wonder how long the media will find this story interesting.

Given that nobody's breaking any laws and it isn't really a scandal anymore, not long, I'd have thought. If there's no other news going on locally I guess it might run for a little bit longer.
