Yeah, considering what a big-time druggie he was, just what is "natural causes"?

You abuse, you lose.

Ya know Jason, when I'm dead and rotting in my grave, I could care less what anyone sez about me. It's not like I'm going to send down (or up) a bolt of lightning at them or something. [Razz]

As far as the Viagra and Phil's SeXXX Den, I hereby publicly will those to you. [Wink]

Yeah right! You know if you find the powers in some form of afterlife that you would most certainly have a new hobby of tossing bolts at people. [evil]

I certainly mean no disrespect to Rick James, but am I never found Dave Chappel's imitation of him (or Dave Chappel in particular) all that amusing. Whenever Dave says "I'm Rick James, bitch!" I'm the only one who isn't rolling around on the floor with my rectum exploding from violent uncontrollable laughter. What drug must I be under the influence of to find Dave funny?

According to some online news sites cause of death is pending toxicology reports and at this time is being looked at as related to a pre-existing condition. Rick James did suffer a serious stroke in 1998.

Rick James, the self-proclaimed "king of punk funk" whose brash, boisterous, self-destructive life epitomized the title of his greatest hit, "Super Freak," died Aug. 6 at his home near Universal City, Calif. According to Sgt. Catherine Plows, a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman, the 56-year-old Grammy Award-winning entertainer died of "a preexisting medical condition."

Capt. David Campbell, spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner's office, said the official cause of death is pending the results of a toxicology examination.

That's why you copy the text from the site that you link to.

He had a stroke while in Denver, performing a concert.

Good point Joe. I edited my post above to reflect that. It's been a long day.

Well I tried making the link to the washington post but it takes you to a register page. Anyway that is where I got the last two paragraphs.

The reports I saw attributed it to 'heart failure'. That would fall in line with typical damage to the cardiac muscle due to cocaine use.

It's no mystery that after years of drug abuse pop stars like Rick James, Elvis, O.V. Wright, Dee Dee Ramone, etc. clock out before the standard MTBF, but the cosmic question is: what the hell is Jerry Lee Lewis made of? Pig iron & polyester?
