What are some of your favorite theatre slogans?

My favorite has to be AMC's "There is a Difference". Mainly because I can use it as an inside joke with my friends who work in the biz. Whenever a comparison needs to be made, I can say, "You knoow, just like AMC, there is a difference [between product a and product b]."

I know of UA's "Experience the Magic" and there was Pacific's "People Pleasing People..." and I know Century has "The best seat for the 21st Century." What else is there?

People around these parts, thanks mostly to the evil AMC Glen Lakes, would use the slogan "there is a difference" in a bad light, meaning "there is a difference when you go to the Glen Lakes...it's REALLY bad!" Then AMC came along with "changing the way people see movies", which if you think about it really didn't help that situation because of the way it was interpreted too. "Changing the way you see movies, with suck screens and speakers in the ceiling and etc, etc, etc." [Razz]

At least AMC no longer does any of those evil things anymore. [Smile]

I like the following:

Colorado Cinemas - "The Kings of Mediocrity"

Regal Cinemas - "Striving for Plainness"

AMC - "Silence is Golden, so we keep the volume at '4' or less with no subwoofer."

Regency Theaters - "We're cheap. But we'll charge YOU a lot!"

Century Theaters - "Hey we're even cheaper than Regency! Just look at the employees in our theaters! We got them in the bargain box at a garage sale. We do not believe in qualified individuals."

That's all we have here in Denver, I think.

Once awhile back, I was crammed into a small, sold out theatre watching Rob Schneider's The Animal on opening weekend at our place. When the Cinemark logo came up and it said, "The Best Seat in Town" a guy behind me (crammed like a sardine amongst all of us) said somethig to the extent of "best seat my ass!"

Regal's slogan back in the day was "It's more than just a movie." I never saw it anywhere except on corporate memos or on their old website.

I always thought AMC was, "Picture Perfect Presentation" or something like that. Not that it would help them in that department, either! [Razz]

What was GCC's slogan? Plitt? Litchfield? Maybe the lack of a good slogan forced them into bankruptcy.

I always liked Cinemarks "the best seat in town", and always wanted a slogan for my theater, but never had one...

Here are some of the ones I suggested but never got approval for..

"just enough room to kick the seat in front of you"

"hot fresh popcorn covered in butter and emt's in every theater for your resussitation enjoyment"

"if you don't pipe down you get hit with a mop"

"soda doesn't just stick to floors"

"we no longer put up with your crap so don't even ask if we take checks"

"we are here to please you, so don't hesitate to ask us to rewind the film when you are 30 minutes late and looking for a beating"

"yes, all movies are made with video cameras moron"

none of them ever got through..

ciao mon

My favourite UK slogan is for
ODEON = "Fanatical About Film"

Kind of hard to believe when your watching an out of focus picture with a missing left surround channel wondering why your feet have stuck to the theater floor?

One I saw for Loews was on employee t-shirts and painted on the outside walls of the mall it was in was "The best view of Hollywood is from here", that and the old stand-by on their corporate trailer "enjoy the show".

Landmark isn't using the "We Speak Your Language" slogan any more--I don't know the details, but there was apparently some sort of trademark dispute involving that phrase which led to the Landmark Logo trailers being pulled. I don't know if anything has replaced it.

Edwards used "Where The Best Pictures Play" (or something close to that).

One of my favorite UA slogans was "Escape to the Movies! UA!" only because of the picture below of UA's neon creation that was most likely in the lobby of many of their theatres from that era.

The words "escape" and "UA" were in neon, but "to the movies" was not, resulting in what I'm sure was on everybody's mind at the time.
