Author Topic: Anne Bancroft has passed away at 73 Bill Gabel Film God Posts: 3873 From: Technicolor / Postworks NY, USA Registered: Jan 2002 posted 06-07-2005 06:11 PM                     Anne Bancroft who won the 1962 Best Actress Oscar as the teacher of a young Helen Keller in "The Miracle Worker", but achieved greater fame as the seductive Mrs. Robinson in "The Graduate", has died. She was 73, she died of cancer on Monday at Mount Sinai Hospital. Besides her husband (Mel Brooks) Bancroft is survived by her son, daughter-in-law & grandson. The lights of Broadway will be dimmed Wednesday night in her Honor. Also passing was Leon Askin, the actor who played General Burkhalter in the 1960's television comedy "Hogan's Heroes" has died. He was 97.
