Wanna see the "feelgood movie of the year?" I'm talking about THE SHINING. You know, that wacky family rattling around doing madcap antics in a closed hotel?

News came to me via screenwriter Mark Evanier's NEWS FROM ME blog, expressed thus:

"Jack's Back! - I used to have a friend whose job was to lie for a big movie studio. Actually, there are a lot of people in that field but his fibbing was confined to producing movie trailers. When the studio found itself stuck with a movie it thought wouldn't draw an audience, my friend took over. He would design a marketing campaign that would make it look like a very different movie. He sometimes referred to himself as the Executive In Charge of Misleading Advertising. I thought of him when someone sent me a link to this video. It's...well, you'll figure out what it is. Go take a look."

See the trailer

That would be a teaser title. A new title could be, "Check out this new Nicholson trailer!!!", to give an idea of what the thread is about.

Seems like the same darned thing to me - if someone decides it's not appropriate, let 'em change it, all the same to me.

"Check this new Nicholson trailer" is a teaser too. The idea is to tell the crowd EXACTLY what the thread is about without them having to read the thread to determine.

Suggestion: "THE SHINING trailer parody -- hilarious!"

quote:
RULE #7 Teaser subject headers / to start a new topic. Do NOT use "teaser" subject headers. Headers such as "You are not going to believe this" and "Can someone help me with..." are aggravating to members since they do not tell what the subject of the thread is without clicking on it. Such titles could not possibly be any less helpful to members trying to navigate topics of interest to them. Therefore, please use common sense when titling new discussions and make SURE they are descriptive. Be forewarned that threads with "teaser" titles may be closed and/or deleted without notification. Repeated violations of this policy will be your removal from the forums.
from the rules...

but I don't care one way or the other......

I enjoyed the trailer. I wish they made more warm and fuzzy family friendly films like that nowadays.

The post is not titled "You gotta see this!"

It is titled "You gotta see this trailer."

Why?

Because it is about a trailer I strongly recommend that you view.

Seems straightforward to me.
