OK, class, let's discuss the graphic design angle of this a bit.
Official plaque? Bah! The Dolby Digital logo is all wrong! Looks like the lame Brands of the World website strikes again. The double D icon is just plain inaccurate. And whoever guessed on the fonts guessed way off the map. Arial Bold is not it. Shit, the would-be artist would have gotten more points from me if he used Comic Sans. At least I would have laughed more. Maybe the guy used Arial just to piss me off!
Just to be an even bigger smart ass, here's a proper rendition of the Dolby Digital logo, one official version circa 1995, the other version circa 2004:
I commonly refer to stretched or squished type as examples of "font murder." The way the SRS logo is tortured is an example of logo murder.
The DTS, THX and JBL icons look pretty accurate. But overall, why in the hell is everything crammed together like that? Is it a political statement on the overcrowded slums of Hong Kong, Bangkok or Rio De Janeiro?
