Something I've noticed lately:

When you wash your hands, do you apply soap before wetting your hands or after?

Similarly, when you brush your teeth, do you wet the brush before you apply toothpaste or after?

Strange question! It depends on what type of soap; if it's the liquid stuff, then soap first, if it's a bar of soap, then there's not much point in rubbing it on dry hands, so water first. Toothpaste first.

I could care less, but it's something I couldn't help noticing, and wondering if people had a preference.

Liquid soap before washing. Wet the toothbrush before applying toothpaste. Don't know why.

I rinse off the brush to get rid of any "night dust", put the toothpaste on, then give it a very quick run through the water again. I can't explain this but that's what I do.

I wet my hands before grabbing the soap too. The only time I don't is if I'm using "hand cleaner" like Gojo or similar, then I wait until after scrubbing to use water.

I'm the same as Mike.
I don't know why either, but I'm not really concerned.

I don't wet the brush at all. I put on toothpaste and then brush my teeth, then rinse the brush off thoroughly. Works great. I think I've had one cavity in my entire life, and certainly none for the past 15 years.

I wet my hands before using soap. I also wet my hair before applying shampoo, because I know you wanna know that as well.

I always wet my hands first, regardless of liquid or bar soap. Also, I wet the brush, apply paste, and re-wet the paste. (Taking care not to knock the paste off the brush.)

My one friend uses hot water in the method I just described for the tooth brush. It drove me nuts when I found this out for the first time. Anybody else do this?

What a topic [Big Grin] I use watered down soap in pumps for hand cleaning with one less step to get the job done. I used to travel six months a year and got into the habit of pre-wetting my toothbrush with hyrogen peroxide not knowing what was coming out of the water taps in a out of the country hotel room....this was recommended by my dentist and my brush and teeth get a slight bonus in whitening [Wink]

Never heard of hot water on the toothbrush, although a quick dip in some peroxide wouldn't hurt!

Jarryd, I use hot water also.
I just find that it works better, especially when rinsing off my toothbrush after I'm done brushing.
I think it's because any germs and leftover toothpaste feel the hot water, think to themselves "Shit, this water is HOT!" and leave.

Gosh Cory, you asking about peoples personal hygiene habits make me wonder if you hang around public restrooms at the airport or the bus station...

Anyway, IF you *MUST* really know, I personally do exactly as Joe posted. He's my hero ya know! [beer] [thumbsup]
