Today I was evicted from my apartment, due to the fact that one of my roommates, upon collecting everyone's rent money, elected to not pay it for two months straigh (and whom I wish to decapitate with razor wire, but I won't even get started on him).

I suppose it was a bit of a blessing in disguise. I'd had about enough of living with a couple of my roommates, and was formulating plans to get out of there before my lease expired at the end of December. There were also plans up in the air about me moving in with my sister in Hawaii.

So, this "blessing" kickstarted me into moving with my sister. I've already booked a plane ticket. My days in the state of Arizona are numbered (13 and counting down). I've never lived anywhere outside the Phoenix area.

It's the apocalypse.

Look at the bright side. If your sister's "hot," you can get some cool candid photos to post here on Film-Tech. [thumbsup]

Just kidding, good luck in your move.

My sympathies man...

In the past year I've lived with my ex-girlfriend, then a coworker who got fired and one day took all of his stuff plus my TV, speakers, etc. everything fun and never heard from him again. Then I moved in with my best friend & his girlfriend who couldn't stop beating holes into the walls & doors. Now I live in a room in a lady friend's townhome, twenty miles away from downtown, where I work.

It's an ugly orchestra, these living situations.
Good luck [thumbsup]

Had a roommate once that moved out one day owing me 2 months of rent, that I had to pay, and a non-paid electric bill that I had been paying to him for 4 months. He worked at the electric utility.

Had another roommate that stole my car and drove it until it died in Florida. Actually, it ran out of gas. Had to go get it. It smelled like pee, and was very wet. Sat on a blanket until I got it home, then replaced the seat and the front carpets.

Own my house. Best thing I ever did. Have a roommate now, but dont have headaches with the finances anymore.

Yes, rommates suck balls, I wish I meant that literally. I will work three jobs if I have to before I ever get another one.

Probably the best way to ensure that you never see somebody again is to loan them money!

If this guy sucked so bad then it was probably worth the two months rent he owes you to get him out of your life!

Me too. The experience which did it for me was living in a university hall of residence after being kicked out of the house I rented with three friends; a move which happened in a hurry because the owner of said house was arrested for large-scale tax evasion and the building society repossessed the place (the owner had been given a month's notice of this, but we only found out when the bailiffs knocked on the door).

My neighbour in this hall was a Nigerian exchange student who claimed to be a famous poet. He had some very strange habits. He would spend all day cooking up large pots of pigs' trotters in the stove in the communal kitchen, stinking the entire building out and making the kitchen and living room uninhabitable for everyone else. His inability to do any washing up caused a vermin infestation: I remember spending £10 on mouse traps in one week alone. Not that we would have wanted to inhabit the living room, though, because when he wasn't cooking pigs' trotters he was sitting in there, repeatedly watching a video of Princess Diana's funeral - the whole four-hour tape, over and over again for days on end, in some cases. And the cleaning lady refused to enter his room, claiming that there was 'weird stuff' in there.

Shortly after I moved out, I heard that the university authorities had bitten the bullet, inspected his room and kicked him out immediately, but had been reluctant to do anything before for fear of being accused of racism. Apparently they only acted when the cleaning lady's union threatened industrial action if something was not done.

My current flat is small and costs a lot to heat in winter, but at least I'll never have to come home wondering what unhygenic horrors lurk in the kitchen.

Well, I guess I've got the only positive roomie experience. Two friends and I shared a house for 7 years without a complaint. We had known each other for more than 5 years when we moved in through a series of unusual events. Lewis had to move on short notice when his apartment complex became condos, Scott was reentering college at 30, and I had been in an intolerable position I had to get out of quick. We set down and agreed to rules that were reasonable and adhered to them. If one wanted to have girl friend over we gave him his privacy by leaving. Since we were all three slobs the minimal housekeeping we did caused no problems, we cleaned when it became really necessary. The exception was the kitchen which was kept neat and clean. When we were all home at dinner time we shared. Having know each other for several years and being 30ish perhaps made the difference. We left because the landlord sold the house. Shortly after,2 of us were married. This was late '70s.
